Glencoe Ski Club

Junior Ski Training since 1961

ABOUT GSC

Glencoe Ski Club was founded in 1961 to develop junior skiing and racing in Scotland. Pioneering members of GSC were involved with developing Scottish skiing and the original White Corries uplift. The club was also a founding member of the SNSC (Scottish National Ski Council), now SSS (SnowsportScotland), to which we are affiliated. These days Glencoe Ski Club continue to offer junior ski training on Scottish snow and members of all ages remain committed to skiing on Meall A Bhuiridh.

Our “all mountain” junior training programme is very much shaped and inspired by the environment we operate in. At Glencoe skiers often need to adapt to the rugged terrain and prevalent weather! Our aim is to develop young skiers into lifelong enthusiasts who will passionately continue skiing into their adult years. Over the years we had several club members compete at a very high level (national squads and occasional winter Olympian) however participation and fun remains the most important factor.

We run some race-training : however, the emphasis will primarily be on the “training” aspect rather than the “racing” itself. We primarily focus on learning how to ski all types of snow and terrain. Learning to go fast and turn where the gates (… or heather!) dictate is fantastic training for technique. Skiing with GSC is primarily about fun, whatever the weather might bring!
